Fils d'un architecte formé par Oscar Niemeyer et nommé par Léopold Sédar Senghor inspecteur général des monuments en Afrique, Sally Alassane Thiam n'a pas hérité d'un engagement — il l'a choisi. Depuis 2012, il construit une carrière internationale au service du patrimoine africain.Son of an architect trained by Oscar Niemeyer and appointed by Léopold Sédar Senghor as Inspector General of Monuments in Africa, Sally Alassane Thiam did not inherit a commitment — he chose it. Since 2012, he has built an international career in service of African heritage.

En briguant ce poste, je m'inscris dans une tradition sénégalaise au service du monde. Le Président Amadou Mahtar Mbow, Directeur général de l'UNESCO de 1974 à 1987, a été le premier Africain à diriger une grande agence des Nations Unies — et a marqué l'histoire de l'OrganisationOrganization par son exigence d'équité et de dialogue entre les peuples. C'est dans cet esprit, celui d'un Sénégal qui a toujours placé sa voix au service de l'universel, que je présente ma candidature.This candidacy is driven by a conviction: culture is the most enduring foundation of international cooperation. In seeking this position, I place myself within a Senegalese tradition in service of the world. President Amadou Mahtar Mbow, Director-General of UNESCO from 1974 to 1987, was the first African to lead a major United Nations agency — and left his mark on the Organization's history through his demand for equity and dialogue between peoples.
